Why should I buy a product of Porter?
Porter is a trusted brand that offers best quality products at affordable prices. The brand has served a significant base of happy, content, and satisfied customers for a long time and is sure to give you the quality you deserve the most. These are the exact causes why should buy this product.
All this while, we have put forward what the company is about and what the product is about. But now, it'll be beneficial to read what the buyers have to say. Here we move on to the buyers' review!
I've had this product for three years now and counting. In general, I am happy with the accuracy of the fence, maintenance of settings and power systems. But there are a few problems to be addressed. The issues observed include:-
A flimsy plastic housing to which the vacuum line is attached.
The arbour height adjustment mechanism that comes loosened over time.
Failure of the overload switch requiring replacement with a higher end product.
The mitre gauge is okay for the price.
I'd rebuy it, but the availability of replacement parts is an issue I've had, and I'm yet had to deal with.
I bought the machine about a year back. The overall problem with this Table Saw as per my experience was with the warranty and repair. Once I tilted the blade to a 45-degree angle, the blade would not return to 90 degrees and was jammed. The screw drive would pop out of the threads and would not adjust later on. I called the Porter Cable after facing these inconveniences in a recurring fashion, and they gave me a listing of repair facilities in my area. I had to take it to the repair shop and dropped it off. I waited not a month but three months. And yet the repair shop gave me the runaround. I was told the parts are on back order. Well, I was not served the truth at all. A company that makes Porter Cable also produces 7 other brands of saws. The parts that I needed were no longer being made, and they did not know if and when the parts would ever be manufactured again. My saw was only four months old when it broke. I went back to the repair shop, picked up my saw, took it back to Lowes and got a refund done. It also had real cheap wing extensions. All I'm trying to say is. If it breaks, you can't get it fixed!!! Other than that I liked it before it broke.
I have owned this saw for a couple of years now, and it has worked quite well for me. The only major complaint I had was the mitre gauge. It always had a little shakiness where the two pieces were joined together. Porter cable was courteous enough to replace it with a brand new mitre gauge, and it did the same thing all over again. I took charge and just replaced it with a good quality gauge and am glad I did so finally. Another feature I greatly admire will be the attached wheels. My workshop is pretty small when it comes to the wideness of the shop. So when I am not ripping great material, I turn the saw sideways and can walk around without the saw creating any problems or obstacles. I can do about 90 percent of my cuts that way. I also found the on-off switch position to be in a very advantageous spot. I have the liberty to bump it with my knee to turn the saw off while not letting loose the grip on my material. I don't usually cut any real thick material, so I do not have any problems cutting what material I am running through the saw. Most of the things that I do is one by one, and the maple is the most robust material to cut. But I do not have a problem with it. I use a good quality thin kerf blade.
I have had a Craftsman and a couple of small portable table saws before. But this is a beautiful machine with lots of power and little vibration and noise. This is both a blessing and a curse. Table saws are scary loud, but this one is so quiet that you forget how powerful it is. The mitre gauge is very accurate, and the fence slides are. I particularly like the little pedal underneath the saw. This pedal raises it up and puts it on castors so you can move it around. Very convenient and innovative. Surely worth the money and better than the products available in this range.
And with this, we close the chapter of reviews. The product is a masterpiece which's details are entailed in this review with the hope of it being of utmost help to you! Let us know how much you enjoy your saw, and we hope you get the value of the price you pay!
Until next time.
